This review is almost 100% of my thoughts of Ninjala.
I was super excited about this when I saw previews as I thought it was going to be the new Splatoon with a Ninja theme.
The hype continued to rise when I saw the cinematic trailers giving us a look at the story and characters. These were very well done and worth watching even if you are not going to play the game.
However, I only invested about 1 hour into the game after completing the tutorial before realizing that I was not enjoying my time. Some of the mechanics did seem clever though, such as the ability to hide as a sign or box in the environment so you can take your opponents by surprise, but unfortunately I could not figure out a good use for this that made sense as your score does not rise if you are hiding in a box and waiting.
Like all games, if someone wants to spend enough time in the game, I'm sure they will find efficient ways to use all the mechanics, but I was left very disappointed by my experience. I would absolutely give it another try later on once updates come out and a player community is properly formed. Until then, I'll stick to watching the trailers as they are the best part of the Ninjala for me.
